The company began in the late 1980s as a small family-owned business that sold basic FMCG products in Malawi. Back then, Imco Wholesalers was a small grocery store reselling products from local manufacturers such as Candlex and Illovo.

With time, we began importing various products from different countries specifically aimed at the mass market which brought about a change in our business strategy. This saw us shifting from solely supplying groceries to bicycles and bicycle parts and it was at this moment that we realized that there was a significant gap in the Malawian market.

Following this, we landed a breakthrough deal with the tire factory CST. CST is the world’s largest bicycle tire manufacturer with distribution in over 150 countries. Having signed this landmark agreement, we now offer their dominant tires under the Lion brand, the market’s first choice.

Over the years, we have expanded our product line to include even more hardware products, sewing machines, vendor items, and diverse grocery goods – all of which are designed to meet the needs of Malawian consumers and culture.
